I was sent this story of lifestyle in Iran in 1970 before the Islamic Revolution. What's amazing is the pictures reflect a fashion style similar to ours in the west, so I can only imagine how openly they lived. The imagery today of Iranian females, is of women and young ladies cover from head to toe juxtapose to the shorts and high boots that one of ladies below is rocking.
Here are few pictures
The ladies are showing skin, one is smoking and snuggled against a man. I can't see her hands but he is wearing a ring on his 3rd finger so I'll assume he is married....to her
Today this woman would have been stoned, lashed or serving a jail sentence. Not to mention the gay couple beside her.
Hellooooo hottie! The confidence a woman needs to wear this outfit explains how empowered this one must have felt.
Note they are all wearing bright colors or printed garments and not covered in black.I shudder to think what would become of our society if we let our religious right take over.

Love this post, NoNon. If the american taliban got their way, we would look scarily like today's Iran.
I can only try to imagine how the women in these photos feel about the way Iran looks today, and how women are treated today.

These women were probably in their 20's and 30's so they'd be in their 50's and 60's today. I read some news that 70 year old widow in Iran was flogged because she allowed two young men to enter her home, one of them was a nephew. I can just imagine how she feels because she is a woman of the 1960's when things like this never happened

It isn't hard to imagine a life under the thumb of the Klanservative Jesusistanis. We can imagine it because we know how the Taliban operate. Our Jesusistanis would make Iranian authorities look enlightened in comparison.
